I Like

LeeAnna has asked

did you get easter baskets as a child? Please describe them, what was in
them, did you get them in the morning? After church? Did you make them
for your kids  your mate or decorations ?

I made Easter buckets for our sons. We did not have much money when the kids were little. Not that baskets were expensive but I saved the plastic buckets that dishwasher soap came in.  I painted them and made them look festive.  We used the buckets for years.  I put a bit of candy and some dollar store toys in them.  Staying at home with our kids is one of the best things I have ever done in this life and I don't regret the lack of money.

One year, I created giant papier mache eggs using balloons as the base.  That was fun and they lasted for a few years.  I don't decorate for Easter any longer.

I like it when my niece comes for an art day.  We have so much fun together.  She was here last weekend and we laughed so hard my stomach hurt.  When was the last time you laughed that hard?

  1. Just like you, I stayed home with my kids and so money was tight - but I don't regret it for a minute! Your Easter baskets sound perfect and I bet they loved them. Love your bunny peeking out in the photo!

  2. In Sweden, we use easter eggs made of paper and fill them with sweets. It is also common to hide them, and children hunt them up. I keep the first tradition and make an egg each for hubby and myself.

  3. Have a great time with your niece. It's been a while since I laughed like that.

    That bunny is pretty cute!
