Work in Progress Wednesday
Progress has been made! The planets have aligned and I have been able to move forward on my upcycling project for the Fashion History Museum. I have the base of this shawl sewn together. The appliqué pieces are pinned in place. I mostly like the way it looks when lying flat. I must wrap it around my shoulders and stand in front of the mirror to see if I still like it.
This challenge is to use fabric purchased from the Fashion History Museum. It is luxury fabrics that were donated to the museum. Wool, cashmere/silk blend and some interesting textures. I am enjoying playing with them! We are allowed to add some of our own fabric but only 20%. I added the bright blue silk in the centre.
I have a lot of embroidery and beading to add to this piece. Well, it can only be 20%. I plan to add that on the edges above the fringe. We have until the end of May to get our pieces completed. I will be working diligently on this to make sure it is done on time!
You have a great new project to work on. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThe difficulty with clothing is that it looks different when laid out flat and when it is draped or flowing over the body. I hope you like your work in both situations.

What a fun challenge! Will the finishes be displayed at the museum? I will enjoy seeing what you add for embroidery and beading!
