I like

May 11th is National Technology Day – Name some technology that wasn’t available when you were a kid. What piece of technology do you think you could live without if you had to?

Wow, just about all of the widely used technology was not available when I was a kid!  It meant that we were outside playing and getting fresh air most of the time.  We used our imagination and climbed trees.  We found clay at the creek and made stuff.  We went roller skating and played makeshift baseball.  I am so glad that technology wasn't available to me.  More was available for my children but their time with it was limited.  They also played outside a lot.

For a fact, I know that I could live without all of my gizmos because I have in the past.  I would miss my computer the most though.  I use it more than my phone.  I would also miss my tablet because I play silly games on it.  Such a waste of time!

I like growing things.  I went to the garden centre yesterday to get some plants.  I will try doing veggies in pots again this year.  I have a sunny spot just outside my kitchen door.  I will grow cucumbers, zucchini, red peppers, lettuce and tomatoes.  I am not sure when I will be able to get everything into their pots.  So much rain predicted!  I also bought some zinnias.  I will put them in a pot on my deck.  It will be nice to have some colour.

I love the spring.  Lilacs are blooming right now.  I love their scent!

Oops, I missed a question this month.

On another note since Memorial Day is culturally the start of summer,   are you having or participating in a party and what will it be likeg or participating in a party and what will it be like?

Canadians celebrate Victoria Day the third Monday in May.  That is our unofficial start of summer.  It also when it is generally safe to plant our gardens.  This May has been cold and wet so not a great start for the summer.  Fireworks are allowed on the Monday.  In our neighbourhood, someone set them off every night of the long weekend.  Poor Banksy.  It terrifies him.

We hosted two barbecues last weekend.  The weather was perfect on Friday which was great.  The rest of the weekend was not so lovely but we still enjoyed being with friends and family.

  1. Good luck with your garden! I like growing things, too. So far, my beans are sprouting, and the tomatoes, cucumbers, and pumpkin plant seem to be growing, too. Fingers are crossed for yours!

  3. when I lived in Canada we celebrated both sides of a holiday! Made life kind of celebratory. /What did you put in your garden? I'm a non tech person.... is that a failing?
