Mandala Monday


 Hmm, I haven't painted the background yet and have been debating what colour to use.  In this photo, the background looks like it has been painted a beige/peach colour.  I think that might work alright.  I am also thinking about using a rosy pink.  

It is too hot to be outside making art on my deck.  It seems such a shame to waste a sun shiny day inside!  I could probably stand it for a little while.  I am concerned for the dogs, though.  They would want to be with me and I am watching a husky right now.  His thick coat would have him overheating in no time.  We can't have that!

    There is such a beautiful movement in this mandala, like people treading a folk dance, holding hands and going round in circles.
    Take care of your and the dogs' health in the heat.

Slow Stitching Sunday

 I enjoyed stitching my September slice.  I got out my book by Carole Samples Treasury of Crazy Quilt Stithes.  It has wonderful combinations of stitches.  I have had this book for years and never properly used it.  It uses basic stitches in interesting combinations. So, I didn't really learn any new stitches but I did enjoy combining stitches in new ways.  I might find that more helpful in the long wrong.   The weather has still been cooperative for stitching outside.  The week ahead looks good too.  I might get a jump start on my October slice.  It is sad to think about putting away the deck furniture but it can wait at least a week. Slow Stitching Sunday

 How did it get to be December!  I really meant to fill in the big gaps in my November slice!  I still might.  We will see how it goes.  I got a lot of other stitching done in November so I guess that distracted me from this project.  There is only one slice left to stitch on this project and I find myself jumping ahead to next year. I wonder if I want to do another monthly project like this for next year.  I like having a monthly project.  I might consider doing a mixed-media instead of stitching.  Not that I couldn't incorporate some stitching into that though.  I have no clear idea at this point and that's okay.  I have to get through the holidays!   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/

Slow Stitching Sunday

  I am still working away at attaching my circles to this piece.  I have added some other stitching as well.  I am very keen to add some beading to this one but that must wait.  Beading needs to be the last step.  I don't need the frustration of my threads getting snagged on the beads.   Progress can feel oh so slow.  Especially when it is because I am distracted by other projects!
