Slow Stitching Sunday
This is the start of my next use up the last of a thread project. I used oil pastels to create it over a year ago. The oil pastels are smudging. I had assumed that they would be set by now. They are not so I will use an iron to speed along the process. I hope that helps. I wonder if it will create a print on the fabric that I use to protect my iron. That could be interesting.
You have to look closely to see the stitching that I have added to this. There isn't very much yet. I am unsure as to how much stitching I will add to this one. I like the colour gradations and I think it isn't a good idea to obliterate them with stitching. I have to stitch in some tree trunks to ground those three floating blobs to make them look like trees!

I like the colors of this piece.
ReplyDeleteOoh, this is a neat one, Angela! You used the oil pastels on a piece of fabric? I didn't know you could do that. I'll enjoy seeing what you add to it.
ReplyDeleteIf you have not yet done the ironing/pressing, here is a tip: if you use kitchen paper between the pastel and the iron, it will soak up any melted crayon and leave the picture clean and clear. If you use baking parchment, the oil will melt and spread before it settles. This might result in fuzzy edges of the trees and hills.
