I Like

LeeAnna has asked

spending time outdoors: would you rather:
resting in a hammock
or digging in a garden?

Oh my gosh, without any doubt, I would rather rest in a hammock.  Or floating in a pool would be even better.  I have done tons of gardening over the years and was mildly successful until our huge maple tree became so large that our backyard gets no sunshine.  Everything died off and I have given up.  Now it is the same in our front yard.  The tree out front is huge and needs to be trimmed.  At least it is on city property and they are responsible for that.

I love flowers and wish they would grow here.  But I am enjoying my small potted vegetable garden.  I have harvested enough lettuce for three salads so far.  I have harvested a few cherry tomatoes.  It looks like I will have a bumper crop of cucumbers.  I am so grateful for the small area outside my kitchen door that gets enough sunshine to grow some veggies!

While digging through my photos, I found this image of Dale Chihuly's glass.  It seems perfect for a hot summer's day.  I love summer.

I like finishes!  I am ecstatic to say that our small renovation is finally finished.  It took way too long but I was patient.  Of course, there is still cleaning and organizing to be done in the other rooms that were holding all the things from that room.  I will work away at those that.  I love rearranging furniture.  It makes everything feel new and fresh.

  1. I love Chihuly glass, too! We got to see one of his exhibits in Denver several years ago at the Botanic Gardens, and it was fabulous. Hooray for the finish of a renovation, too!

  2. I'm also a hammock-loving gal, although I love having some flowers around. It's just the actual work involved in gardening that I don't like very much.
Congratulations on your finished renovation. Now for the fun of furnishing it. It's like playing with a doll's house, isn't it?
