What was your least favorite food as a child? Do you still hate it or do
you love it now?

I mainly disliked any cooked vegetables as a child.  My mother was not a particularly good cook and most vegetables were cooked within an inch of their life.  I will eat cooked vegetables now, even though I prefer them raw.  I love a salad loaded with vegetables!  I have also found some very good recipes for vegan/vegetarian meals.  My hubby doesn't love it when I make those meals, but I find them tasty, and he mostly agrees.

I like being involved in my community and finding ways to give/volunteer.  I am on a public art advisory committee for the region and this morning I got to help choose some art.  One of the universities in town is hosting a show by its graduating class.  The Region will rent five pieces and have them on display in one of its office buildings.  It was great to see some really interesting art by young artists.

I like that I was able to sway the jury in favour of two pieces that are textile art!  I think it is really important that the public be educated in the fact that there is more to art than just painting.  I wish I was available to go to the reception tonight and see the artists.

I like that is spring break this week and I have my granddaughter, Juniper, here for two days.  We had a lovely day together yesterday.  We have made some plans for making art for her visit tomorrow.

  1. my mother cooked vege to the "soft" stage too...my sister rebelled when she got married and barely steamed them so they were still hard... I didn't like either extreme! but LOVE a good salad,
good luck with the exhibit, ART is amazing really

  2. I don't like overcooked vegetables either! How great that you were on that selection committee and persuaded them to choose some textile art. I bet those artists appreciate you!

  3. Over-cooked vegetables can be made interesting by blending them in a mixer. You can use the puré as it is, dilute it a bit into a smoothie, or dilute it even more into soup.
I, too. like crunchy raw vegetables but cooked veggies are especially nice in winter.

  4. My granddaughter is also named Juniper -- not such a common name. I love your blog and have been following it for years.
