LeeAnna has asked

describe a particularly memorable July 4th celebration

Well, as a Canadian, I don't celebrate July 4th.  I find myself saying that rather fiercely in my head.  Here we celebrate July 1.  Yes, we have fireworks and picnics.  Yes, we are each proud of our imperfect countries.  We have a lot in common.

One year, we took our kids to the big celebration at one of our local universities.  It was huge.  The fireworks were amazing.  The reason it sticks out in my memory is that the traffic was horrendous to get out of that neighbourhood.  Our car overheated.  We needed water for the radiator.  I am not sure who gave us some but their kindness was appreciated.  There are a lot of good people in this world!

I love how much nature I see while walking in my neighbourhood.  We live fairly close to the downtown core and yet nature thrives here.  There was a raccoon in our tree a few weeks ago.  I saw this baby bunny while walking with a friend.  Squirrels are ubiquitous.  There used to be a falcon that visited.  It is amazing.

We are under an extreme heat warning.  I will still make an effort to sit outside for as long as I can handle.  Winters feel long and I need to make the most of summer!
