Let the Crazy Quilting begin

Image
Last year I took a break from the Crazy Quilt Journal Project.  I thought a lot about whether I would sign up for it this year.  I decided in the affirmative.  This is my January block.  My plan for the first four months of the year is to incorporate a bead journal project from a previous year.  These four blocks will then be stitched together.  I don't have a plan for the rest of year as yet. Journal prompt #53

Image
1 year = 365 opportunities, not really a quote.  Also, feels like this shouldn't  the last prompt of the year.  Oh well.  I wasn't expecting to have another prompt so had to squeeze this in on the last page of my journal.  It feels good to have that journal completed.  Looking over it I am pleased with all the colorful pages. When I look ahead for 2017 I am excited for the opportunities I have.  And I am grateful, oh so grateful.  I have so much.  I have more than enough supplies for all the projects I have ahead of me.  I am trusting that I will have time for them as well.

Work in Progress Wednesday

My bead journal for January is rather a simple shape.  Until I get a grip on all the creative projects I have given myself this year I will keep things simple.  I do not like feeling overwhelmed.  I am beading on leather this month.  I was gifted some leather last year and wanted to give it a try.  It is a bit tough to stitch through.  Definitely not a favorite but I will do it again at some point. My creative projects this year are: monthly: bead journal, crazy quilt block and fibre guild challenge weekly: Color Me Positive journal prompt daily: A Stitch a Day I hope to learn a lot from all these challenges! A Year of Stitches

Image
Oh, 2017 is going to be full of creativity!  I have signed up to participate in numerous projects.  I have joined a group that is taking a stitch everyday.  I have cut 12 six inch squares to do this stitching upon.  My guild challenge is working on six inch squares and it feels achievable each month so I thought I would do the same for this challenge.  I went through my stash of experiments to find the base into which I will stitch.  The piece above is a clean up cloth.  I have stitched three flowers.  My intention is to stitch 31 flowers for the month of January.

Oh rust and peeling paint.  It is terribly weird that I find beauty in that which is being destroyed?  In truth, I am not concerned if it is weird.  I enjoy it and that is what really matters. It feels good to be on top of things

I have already completed my January guild challenge.  I love the way my little tree turned out!  Orange and blue were the colors chosen for January.  This is not a combination I use normally but I do like it.  I really enjoyed stitching this one! Journal prompt week 52

Image
The quote for this week was "It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air."  I wasn't overly keen on this quote.  I decided to use the proverb that says 'a merry heart doeth good like medicine.'  There is actual science to prove this to be true.  I know a lot of people think 2016 was a terrible year.  I honestly prefer to think upon all the positives that have happened.  I have a long list of things that I am grateful happened this year.  I am looking forward to doing this journal prompt again next year.  I am hoping that I can handle on the fun projects I have signed up to participate in 2017.
