Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
Progress is progress even if it is small.  I have added some large crystal beads to this piece.  That was the right next step.  What comes next?  I am thinking about some lovely white sparkly thread that I have.  I think it would look good on this.  Sparkles always look good to me!

Mandala Monday

Image
I am having so much fun with these stitched mandalas.  The watercolour base works perfectly.  It is strong enough and doesn't buckle.  I find the hole-pricking patterns on Pinterest.  It is fun to come up with my own stitching patterns to use the holes.  The outer ring was the pattern suggested.  I added the inner shape to make it more interesting.

Celebrating our Art

My niece sent me this video clip.  That penguin is so proud and excited about the art it made.  We all need to celebrate our creations like that!  I plan to from now on!

LeeAnna  has asked in honor of St Patrick's day, what is your favorite shade of green? do you have any clothes in that color? accents for the home like pillows, duvets, etc? I do like green.  I like most shades of green but tend more towards the bright.  I used a few different greens on this funky chair.  There is also a lot of glitter paint on it and my granddaughters love that.  All of my dining room chairs are painted uniquely.  Well, there are a couple that still need to be painted.   I like that spring is almost here.  The temperatures are rising and the snow is melting.  Yay!  I am always happy to see winter gone! I like hosting art play days.  It is spring break here and two of my nieces are teachers so they were available for an art day.  I also invited my DIL and two granddaughters.  One of my nieces brought her daughter as well so it was a multigenerational event.  I suggested a potluck so we had a feas...

Work in Progress Wednesday

February slipped away quickly and I didn't finish my tree-a-month project.  So here it is now.  The tree was created with some fabric I painted.  I also applied transfer foil and paper napkin to that fabric.  I like the tree.  However, this project was meant to be more textural.  I will leave this tree as is for now.  Hopefully, I can get more textural for the month of March.

Mandala Monday a day late

This is my first attempt at spirograph stitching on a mandala.  I think I stopped too soon.  I plan to add more stitching to it now that I know more.  I can see that this kind of stitching could become very addictive!  So fun!

Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
It is lovely to be playing with needle and thread again.  While away on holidays I did not have the opportunity to do so.  I brought a stitching project along but never got it out.   I have always loved a spirograph design and really enjoyed stitching this.  It is a good time to use some of my sparkly threads.  I stitched this one watercolour paper.  It works perfectly.  I think I could stitch like this on fabric if I backed it with a strong fusible support.   For now, I think I will continue to stitch on the watercolour paper though.  It is so simple!  And I love the results.
