This is the start of my crazy quilt project for December. I am doing it the same way I did last month. I have chosen a block that I inherited from my husband's Aunt Pat. She had done most of the embroidery on it but there was still more to do to finish it. I am choosing to finish the block in my own way. I have added laces and paint. I have stitched on a few sequins. There is still lots more to do. I better get at it! December is pretty busy.
I feel like this has enough beading now. The beading enhances the kaleidoscope without obliterating it. I pushed myself outside of my box by using some bigger beads. I am always learning! This something a bit different for me. I started by adhering doilies to a canvas and then painting the whole thing. I machine quilted it and then got stuck. It sat for quite a while before I knew where to go with it. I have added the circles and some hand embroidery. I want to add more embroidery and then it should be finished. I need a little help from this clever stitching community. Pictured above is a vintage quilt block I inherited. I have been finding interesting ways to use them. My newest venture is to trade this with a young artist once I have embroidered a word on to it. The young artist is working on her solo show for graduation. Her idea is to create a piece of art each day and then trade it on Instagram. Her show will have a photo of the piece she created hanging next to the piece created in response to it. I hope I am describing her idea well enough. I am trading her for a vintage hanky that she embroidered panky onto. Giggles. So clever! I would love to come up with a word or phrase equally as clever but alas nothing has come to me. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Also, don't you just love that embroidery is going to hang in an art gallery at a university! I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/
