Isn't this a great piece

Image
Brenda created this from the fibres I supplied for our guild challenge.  She is very talented and created a wonderful piece with great movement!  So fun.  I have really been enjoying seeing the creations of the guild members.

TAST bullion

Here is the start.  It is going to make a million more of these to fill the space!  But I am up for the challenge.  I thought I better post this today even though  it is not finished since it will take a while to finish!  I have not done this stitch prior to this but it is one that I have wanted to try for a long time.  Thanks to Sharon B for leading us through all these stitches!

Happy Mother's Day

Image
I managed to keep this beautiful planter filled with flowering plants alive for a week!  Yay me!  The colors are so vibrant and beautiful.  I am certain that my Mom will enjoy them all summer long.  Even though her memory isn't what it used to be she still remembers to take care of her plants.  Happy Mother's day to all you beautiful and hard working mothers out there!

more fun finds

These absolutely gorgeous buttons came to me through ebay.  They are so pretty it just makes me happy to look at them!  These are one of those things that I think I will find it hard to use.  They are just so precious!  How do you get past that?

Shopping at the Ontario Network of Needleworkers annual meeting

Image
Wednesday the annual meeting was in Guelph.  What a feast for the eyes.  The guilds were showing some stunning work.  It was lovely to see all that creativity!  Of course the vendor hall was a treat too.  I picked up some yummy fibres.  I wish I had the time to play with them right now!

TAST half chevron

When will I ever learn!  When doing a new stitch I should not immediately go to a project.  That is what I did on the top photo.  Well, after a long day of looking after two sons who had their wisdom teeth surgically removed I was not firing on all cylinders but I wanted to feel like I had had a productive day so I just went for it and stitched on this month's crazy quilt journal project.  duh!  bad move!  Clearly I wasn't getting it. Today with a clearer head I stitched on  a practice piece and thankfully I figured it out.  The lower photo shows how I added to an existing practice piece.  I like the pastel colors.  I don't usually work with them.

shrinking fabric

Image
Have you heard of shrinking fabric?  It is a fabric that has a grid running through it and when washed in hot water and put through the dryer it shrinks up.  Pictured above I have stitched some synthetic fabrics to it.  I love the crinkled texture that you get!  I understand that synthetic fabric works the best but I would like to see what happens with cottons and silks.
