WIP Wednesday

I added some beads to this block.  I am not sure what to do next so I might set this block aside for a bit and work on a different one for my fruit quilt.

September bead journal project

Just a tad late on this one.  Still it is finished and that is what counts.  I am not super thrilled with this one.

A studen'ts creation

Image
Yesterday at my workshop one of my students, Karen, brought in this gorgeous book/journal she created.  It is fabulous!  She is so talented.  She created the book with the things she had made in the two previous workshops she had taken with me.  I LOVE seeing what students do!  It is so inspiring!

Announcing my October workshops

Alcohol Ink Techniques      Saturday October 7, 10 am – noon We are going to explore a number of different ways to play with alcohol inks.   You will create a stack of material to use in your greeting cards, art journals or collage.   Alcohol ink is very staining; you may wish to bring gloves to protect your manicure!  Painted Paper with Painted Fusible Web     Friday October 12, 1pm-3pm   Or Saturday October 13, 10 am – noon This is a fun project with multiple layers of paint.   We will be experimenting with fusible web, Inktense pencils and acrylic paints.   This project can just as easily be done on fabric so if that is your preferred substrate let me know and I will have fabric available for you to use.   There are some really interesting collage possibilities with this workshop. experimentation

I really like this piece.  It is so much prettier in real life.  The camera just wasn't capturing the colors properly.  I hate when that happens.  I made rather large fabric bead, lower right, and needed to find a way to use it.  The bead reminded me of a cocoon.  I added a number of other experiments that coordinated with it.

WIP wednesday

I have added some ribbon embroidery to this block.  I love ribbon embroidery!  I used the pistil stitch which I just learned how to do.  It always good to practice as then it really sticks in my head. Thanks to Sharon B at http://pintangle.com/   for organizing Work in Progress Wednesday as it is really helping me move forward.

TAST Knotted buttonhole stitch

Image
This is a new stitch for me.  However the buttonhole stitch is not new to me so I found this very easy to do.  I stitched into a circle shape.  I quite like the way it turned out and will definitely use this stitch now that I know how to do it.
