I have fallen into a rut, I mean pattern. Posting about my thrift store finds is kind of fun for me! These particular finds all work quite well together and I look forward to creating something beautiful with them!
I added a bit more stitching and some pearl beads. I think I will call my April block finished. I can always go back and add something later should I decide to do that.
Love this stitch! I stitched directly to a cq block even though it was the first time trying this stitch. It looked easy to do and reminded me of making that children's craft called a gods eye. I made loads of them when I was a child. I also added the woven detached chain stitch. I need to finish adding that stitch to the rest of the flowers. Thanks to Sharon B at http://pintangle.com/ for all the instructions!
I have two pieces accepted into the Quilts, Fibre Art & Wood Carvings - "Birds & Bees" Exhibit at the Stratford Perth Museum. The opening reception is this Saturday April 20 from 1- 3pm. The piece below is one of the pieces accepted. It sure feels good to have my work accepted into shows. Here is the link to museum's site http://www.stratfordperthmuseum.ca/page/1/home.php
My sweet friend Nancy returned home last week. She was in Morocco. She is such a doll. She always brings me back treats from her travels. I am so blessed that she is such a kind and generous friend. The turquoise leather slippers sparkle so they are absolutely perfect for me! The pink toilet paper she had a hard time squeezing into her luggage. Can you imagine she left some clothes behind to make room for it! What a hoot. I have never seen such brightly color toilet paper before! Love it!
Again, I found some beautiful vintage linens at the thrift store. How don't understand how people can let go of these beauties! Oh well, I am glad that they do. The intricate handwork is so delightful.
This is my block for April. I didn't get a lot added to it in the last week. Some French knots around the silk ribbon roses and a few more stitches on the seems. It is almost finished but needs some beads! Thanks to Sharon B at http://pintangle.com/ for keeping me on track. Even if the progress is minimal at times.
