Take a Stitch Tuesday

Image
This is the Rice stitch which I understand is a canvas stitch.  Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/  shows the different variations of this stitch and recommends using waste canvas when stitching onto a crazy quilt/regular fabric.  Okay, so I am always the rebel and just went straight to stitching onto my fabric without using the waste canvas.  I honestly don't care if my stitches are perfect.  I like the irregularity as it has a more organic feel to me.

I am still doing some crocheting

I have been working on away on this freeform crochet scarf/shawl.  It keeps growing.  I am having a lot of making it and exploring different stitches.  I always like learning new things.  I can imagine that it is going to keep me warm and snuggly next winter.  Not that I am anxious for that!

Bead Journal for April

Image
It turned out alright.  Not my favorite though.  I was trying to break out of my box of using analogous colors.   I like to break out of my boxes and learn new things however I am not always pleased with the results.  That's okay, all is not lost.  I learned something.

Work in progress Wednesday

This is my crazy quilt project for April.  It is a bit different as I collaged the fabric in an offbeat way.  I wasn't exactly sure where I was going with it until just now.  Seeing it in a photo can make all the difference.  Now I see a landscape and I am excited go down that track. Take a stitch Tuesday

Beaded Looped Cretan stitch was shown by Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/  last week.  It is an interesting stitch.  I have added it to my crazy quilt, top picture, and my bead journal project for April.

Still thinking about water

Image
Actually, water is a running theme in my work.  I only just realized that!  duh!  Anyway, I sat at my needle felting machine last week and joyously created this piece.  I haven't decided if it is finished or not.  I am leaning towards adding some beads though.  The background is a sweater I cut up.  I found it at a thrift store already preshrunk.  I love the texture and the metallic thread running through it.   Yes, the more I look at the more I think it needs something more.  Possibly some hand stitching as well as the beads.
