I am still working through this altered book journal.  It is exploding with fabric and paper and lace and...

Work in Progess Wednesday

Finally finished.  My New Zealand piece for the  Ailsa Craig Quit and Fibre Festival  feels very special to me.  I used a piece of batik fabric that I purchased while in New Zealand.  I depicted the mountains in my piece because my husband and I hiked a mountain while we there.  Hiking a mountain was a bucket list item for me.  I am so glad that I did and feel like I can persevere through anything after doing it.  It was neither easy or fun.  I ended up with 10 blisters on my feet and could barely hobble to the car at the end.  But I DID IT! Take a Stitch Tuesday

Sharon B  shows us the  Spanish Feather Stitch  this week.  I have never tried this stitch and wasn't overly successful with it.  We were shown how to work it in a row but I wasn't really getting.  I decided to do it as a single stitch.

I cut a 6 inch square from a cleanup cloth.  The colour in the cloth became so rich after being used many times.  I applied fibre paste and pressed a shell slice into it.  I added a bit more colour with Inktense pencils.  No stitching has been added yet as I am not totally sure that I will add stitch to it.  I am definitely leaning towards it though. Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
I started this piece last month as my bead journal project for the month but got distracted from it.  I have resurrected it for my April bead journal project.  It is coming along alright.  I am not loving the big pink beads.  I think they are too large and need to come off.  I am linking to http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.com/ http://www.esthersquiltblog.com/ https://www.quiltfabrication.com/

Take a Stitch Tuesday

Sharon B  shows us the Buttonholed Cable Chain stitch this week.  I love it and hope that I can remember to use it more often.  I wish that I would have chosen two more contrasting threads for this.  It works well on this crazy quilt block though.

Bits and Pieces

I honestly don't know why I save the ends of threads.  It almost seems crazy.  I know I am not the only one that does it though so there is some comfort in that.  I felt the need to experiment with them and created a sheet of 'fabric' with them.  Interesting result but now what.  Last week I was thinking about a stalled project and decided to try creating a leaf with this new 'fabric'.  I love it. It is lacey and colourful, textural and sparkly.  I think I have to make some more of these leaves for that project.
