Slow Stitching

Image
It has been a while since I have posted about this piece.  I have thoroughly enjoyed stitching on this project.  I haven't added a significant amount since I lasted posted about it but I do think that it is now finished.  At least the slow stitching part is finished.  I am debating as to whether I should use it as a book page in a large book I am thinking of making or have it be a separate piece on its own.  I am eager to start another slow stitching piece.  It is so relaxing. Water

Well, you would have thought that since my dear husband was away on his annual guys' camping trip this week I would have been more productive.  My weekly experiment only got tackled this morning.  I love that my fabric base is still wrinkly.  It is hand-dyed and I think the wrinkles add to the water feel I want.  I did some wire coiling which I haven't done for quite a while.  Also adding some 'gem' stones.  Nothing is actually attached at this point so it could change a little but I do like where this going.

Summer is a great time of explorations for me.  I have so much fun playing with different/messy techniques.  Here I worked with crayons.  It is a riot of colour and I can't wait to start stitching into it!  I am linking to http://www.esthersquiltblog.com/ https://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.com/ https://www.quiltfabrication.com/

Creativity is a lot like looking at the world through a kaleidoscope. You look at a set of elements, the same ones everyone else sees, but then reassemble those floating bits and pieces into an enticing new possibility. Rosabeth Moss Kanter I am linking to http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com

Water

Still playing with my water experiments.  I pieced together some of my surface-treated fabrics and then collaged on top of that.  I used some of my silk paper, cellophane, sari silk, sheer fabric and some dyed cheesecloth.  Even with all of that, there seemed to be something missing so I added a piece of shell that I had coloured with alcohol inks.  These six-inch squares don't take a long time to create but ever so fun for me. Work in Progress Wednesday

I decided to play with making silk paper again.  This piece is fairly large for me sized at 22' x 26'.  I had fun adding odd bit of thread, yarns and something called angel wings.  A friend had given me the angel wings.  They are meant to be included when you make your own paper.  I think they are a flower petal, possibly.  Some of the colour ran and I quite like it.  It gives it a painterly effect.  I am wanting to add some stitching and possibly beading to this.  I plan to incorporate it into a large textile book.  I am linking to http://www.esthersquiltblog.com/ https://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.com/ https://www.quiltfabrication.com/
