Needle felting and stitch

Image
This little piece has been lying around for a while.  The base is a sweater I found at a thrift store already shrunk and felted.  It has a bit of glitz in it so how could I resist it!  I added some needle felting and then it sat.  The other day it jumped out at me and I added more needle felting and some silk ribbon embroidery.  I think this will be a page in a journal of sorts. Not a Painter

Image
When I say I am an artist a lot of people assume that means painter.  I have never considered myself a painter even though I use paint often.  Last summer I was having a lot of fun with paint and created these funky garden totems.  I also painted a picnic table for Explore Waterloo Region.  There might be another opportunity to paint another picnic table in the future.  I am excited about that. My garden totems are bright and cheerful.  They make me smile.  They add a beautiful pop of colour to my backyard where no flowers will grow.  The shade from our giant maple tree just doesn't allow for a garden.

I heart Photography

Gorgeous flowers are a joy to photograph.  There is so much beauty in this world!  I am happy to share this cheery photo today. Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
My whole cloth crazy quilt is making very slow progress and I am okay with that.  I bought some templates so many years ago and plan to use them for each 'seam' treatment.  It is long past time to use them!  I am using some of the new thread that I purchased as a birthday present for myself.  New thread is always fun! Experimentation

Image
I think this fabric was from an old pillowcase.  There is some embroidery and fancy stitching to join the two pieces together.  I have added some gesso for texture and paint.  I think the added texture is interesting but the painting needs some improvement.  I would also like to add my own embroidery to this.  That might prove to be a miserable exercise in futility though.  Stitching through so much paint could be onerous.  I am planning to use this as a cover for a journal. Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
I have been creating some acrylic skin mandalas.  I am not exactly sure how I will use them just yet.  I suppose I could adhere them to some fabric.  I am loving the way this one is looking.  I am debating if it needs anything more or if I should call it done.  I am leaning towards adding a little more but not sure what at this time.

Slow Stitching Sunday

I made some slow progress on my beaded mandala this week.  I wonder if I will ever tire of creating mandalas.  I don't see it happening any time soon.  Whatever will I do with them all?  I would love to have a solo show with them but that is not totally necessary.  It is the process of making that is most important to me.  My mind flows with so many ideas for more of them.  I would love to create a giant mandala somewhere.  Not a beaded one though, that would take forever and I would definitely lose interest in that.   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/
