Princess Bubbles Creates

This is my little ocean scene stitched on burlap with lots of interesting yarns.  I worked on this while my granddaughter worked on hers. I had such a lovely time with my granddaughter this week.  She is six now and I felt she was ready for a stitching project.  She absolutely loved it.  A new stitcher has been added to this world! Here she is with her piece.  She stitched for hours.  Amazing.  Her attention span is extremely long!  She and I stitched while on our deck.  The weather was perfect.  I hope we have many more days of pleasantly stitching and chatting together.   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/

Lee Anna  as always has some interesting questions for us. do you like to attend State/County Fairs? tell us what kinds of things you like to do there? I went to a sunflower festival last summer.  There were vendors and some animals.  I went with my son and his family.  My granddaughter enjoyed the kiddie train ride.  It was a pleasant afternoon.  I have heard that there is a lavender festival somewhere not too far away.  Maybe I will be able to get to it this summer. There was a wool festival not far from here that I enjoyed going to for a few years.  There were always interesting rovings and yarns to purchase. I went to the Paris, Ontario fall fair years ago to see my DIL ride in the horse competition.  It was exciting to see her do her thing!   There used to be a huge creative festival in Toronto that I loved going to.  There were so many interesting supplies.  Things that I couldn't find in my own town.  With the ...

 Aw, my floofy book pages give me so much pleasure.  It would be easy to keep going and going on every single page.  I have to know when to stop!  I am eager to stitch them all together into a scroll too.  I don't want this project to go on forever but I also do want to keep playing with them.   I actually stitched together some pieces and created another scroll.  I am trying to figure out how to get a photograph of something so long and skinny.  Maybe I could hang it outside on my clothesline to get a photo.  I have thought of a number of other scroll ideas too.  I can just picture a solo show of them!  Wouldn't that be fun!

 Paper cutting/kirigami, layers of paint and collage were used to create this mandala.  This series of mandalas look different from any of my other series.  I am not totally sure where this series will go.  An idea will come eventually I am sure.  It may sit on the back burner for a bit while I work on a stitched series.  

 I have started another stitched mandala.  I am working on a wool base.  I do love stitching into wool.  I have used some of my threads from Sue Spargo.  Her threads are gorgeous.  Her work is so inspiring.  I noticed that I was wanting to emulate her when I started this.  That had me frozen.  It is never good for me to do that.  I have to do me.  It is the only way to be happy while stitching.   I managed to soak up some sunshine while stitching outside yesterday.  I am hoping for the same today.  My deck is so inviting on summer days.  I can't waste one! Lee Anna  and the gang are talking about ice cream again.   remember the ice cream truck driving around your neighborhood in summer? Did you go out with your money, stand in line and get a treat? Remember how it felt to go out on your own and leave with that three colored Popsicle or the chocolate coated vanilla on a stick? What was your favorite frozen treat? Is there an ice cream truck that still goes around your neighborhood? I did love getting a red, white and blue popsicle when I was a kid.  Mostly they came from the corner store and not an ice cream truck.  I remember walking to the store with empty pop bottles and getting a nickel for them.  Pop was a treat we didn't have very often.  That was a good thing really.  I could go on a whole rant about how that stuff is poison for our bodies.   On another note, I love colour!  I love bling.  The five-year-old inside me gets positively giddy about colour and bling.  Yeste...

 I started creating the floral piece thinking it would work for the Radical Botanical challenge.  Then I thought I would turn it into a book cover.  I changed my mind yet again.  It is still a book cover just for a different book.  The lower photo is the inside of the book.  There is a little more to do on the inside of the book.  The cover is rather simple and I am still debating on adding something to it.  Possibly some paint.
