Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
Slow stitching at the cottage was a delight.  My three-year-old grandson enjoyed helping me pick out the right thread colours.  So sweet!  It is good to be home where slow stitching is equally enjoyable.  Vacations are great but I am also incredibly grateful that I have a life that I don't need a vacation from.  I realize that everyone is so blessed. Looking ahead to the rest of the week I may not have as much stitching time.  I will try to make the best of the time that I do have.  My mandala banner project has been fully funded so I will need to concentrate on painting the mandalas now.  Another floofy book page.  I did a fair amount of breading on this one. The little pieces are great to take along while travelling.  I am at a cottage with family this week. It has a perfect front porch but stitching!  Internet access is limited, not a bad thing.       I am looking to  https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/?m=1

Art Journal

Image
If I had more time I would take the journal page further.  At this point, I will call it finished.  This is truly a junk journal that is filled with so many different kinds of paper.  On the right side is some braille paper my sister shared with me.  On the left side is a calendar page.  I created the dragonfly wings ages ago and they have been waiting for the right project.  They are perfect for the theme of 'come fly with me'  at  Art Journal Journey I do love a good art journal challenge.  Playing in my journals always makes me happy.  Follow the joy and take flight.

I Like

I like surprises.  I like happy mail.  Someone sent me these pretty pendants this week.  I would love to say thank you but I don't know how to track them down.  Obviously, I tried a google search but very little came up.  What a fun little mystery! I like a good hike.  We live in an area that has a lot of good trails.  We walked to see the wise old tree on the weekend.  The grandkids did a great job walking there.  Lily wanted to wear a party dress!  I wish I would have joined her but my practical side outweighed my frivolous side. Lee Anna  and the gang are discussing: tell us about a local festival/fair you've attended and what it's about? What did you like about it?  We can learn what's going on in your area of the world? There haven't been many festivals to attend in the last while.   There is a local Jazz festival that we enjoy.  They have a large stage set up in a parking lot so that part isn't so charming....

Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
I have made some stitching progress on this mandala.  I am loving the way this one is coming.  The colours make me happy.  The wool is a delight to stitch into.  All is good.  Summer is such a juicy creative time for me.  So many fun projects to do.  Stitching time has to be shared with other pursuits so not a ton of progress has been made.

Mandala Monday

Image
This is a mixed-media mandala to be sure.  The circle base was painted with acrylic paint.  I then added a doily that was painted with watercolour.  Next, a kirigami paper cut with some glitter added to it.  Finally, a die cut was added.  Creating mandalas this way isn't quite as meditative for me.  Possibly because there isn't the repetition that is involved in the drawn/painted mandalas.  I still like it and enjoy creating in this way.  I am so grateful I can be creative in multiple ways. Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
This floofy book page is feeling like a bit of a disjointed mess to me.  These pages are meant to be slow stitching fun.  And they are, for sure.  But when I am not liking the way a page looks then what?  Do I call it finished and move on?  I sort of want to do that but I hate not finishing something.  It doesn't feel finished if I don't like it!   I can wait until I stitch it into the scroll and then add to it.  I can put it to the bottom of the pile and revisit it at some point.  Both of those options are delaying a decision.  Sometimes that is what needs to be done.  I am okay with that.  There are other things that can I do in the meantime.  What a delight to have so many lovely stitching projects!
