Princess Bubbles Creates

 Another scroll that I am working on.  I do love the romance of it.  I tend towards the bright and bold and sparkly but sometimes I enjoy working with the softer colours.  And the LACE!  I do love the lace.  At least now I do.  When we got married so many years ago I didn't have a stitch of lace on my dress. It is interesting how we change.   

 Yep, still playing with my mandalas.  I really enjoy figuring out different ways to do them.  It is all a beautiful meditative playground.  Just how many of these mandalas can I create?  I kind of want to count how many I have done.  Probably not a good idea.  I don't really need to know details about my mania!

I am playing around with another snippet roll.  I have used lots of different laces.  I also dug out a bunch of silk ribbon kits to stitch.  I don't use kits very often any more but sometimes it is nice to not have to make decisions.  Mind you, I almost always change them.  My inner rebel is strong and I must do things my own way!   This has been a very enjoyable project and I look forward to adding more stitching to it.  I will likely use up some of the leftover silk ribbon from the kits.  That should tie everything together. Describe something you experience with  each  of your senses every SPRING taste,  touch,  sight,  hearing,  scent Wow,  Lee Anna  That is tough for me! I will start with taste.  Rhubarb is one of my favourites.  I love the tartness of it.  I remember eating a stalk fresh from the garden when I was a child.  Mom gave me a bit of sugar in a bowl to dip it into.  Now I make pies from it.  Unfortunately, I have to buy the rhubarb as it doesn't grow well in my backyard. Touch is more difficult.  I can't think of anything in particular that I touch in the spring other than dirt.  And I really don't like touching dirt or gardening because of the dirt.  Funny, if I call it earth it sounds better.  Maybe I can teach myself to not be bothered by it.  I am always grateful for what the earth produces for us to enjoy.   Sight is easier.  I just saw my first robin of the spring yesterday....

 I have added a bit of stitching to this lovely little landscape.  It reminds me a bit of Sedona.  The red rock that is there is quite striking.  So are the mountains.  I feel refreshed after being there.  So much time in nature will do that for you! Where do I go from here?  Do I just stitch down the edges that have not yet been stitched?  Do I add more embellishments?  I will give that all a ponder.

 I love to play and experiment.  It is lovely to be home from holidays and have access to all my art supplies.  As all my mandalas are this mandala was an act of mark-making and meditation.  I believe this is the first time that I have used oil pastels on a mandala.  I find oil pastels tricky.  I have yet to master getting them to blend nicely.  I am practising in my art journal so I hope to eventually master them.  They work well for simple marks no real skill is needed for that.   This mandala is not beautiful to me but it is interesting.  I enjoyed creating it at the very least.  I used watercolour, pearl ex powder, markers, oil pastels and dye crystals all on a a coffee filter.  

 I took my scrappy scroll pages along on our holiday.  I did not do much stitching but I was glad I brought it along.  I forced myself to spend some time looking out the window on our drive.  Driving through the mountainous area was beautiful but also terrifying to me.  On the return drive, I just buried my head into my stitching.  I was so much more relaxed! There is still loads more to do on these little pages.  I have to remember to leave space at the top and bottom for the seams.  I bought some beads while in Sedona and it feels like an appropriate idea to use some of them on these pieces.  I will save that for the end though.
