Princess Bubbles Creates

I have been experimenting with transfers again.  I was told by Sandra that an acrylic transfer could be done with a permanent marker and tempera paints.  I love experimenting so I gave it a try.  I was surprised that the purple Sharpie marker bled a bit when transferred.  I was also surprised that the regular ink pen also transferred.  See top photo. The tempera paint transferred well in some places but not in others.  I think possibly the paper wasn't stuck down very well.

The top photo is a transfer done with acrylic paint and a laser  copy.  I think it was quite successful.  Most of the toner transferred into the acrylic paint. The bottom photo shows a magazine page transferred to cloth with irredescent medium.  Not quite so successful.  I do think that it still has possibilities though.  It is a good start and could be stitched into or...

I have tried to make an acrylic skin a number of times in the past.  I was never successful as I didn't have the right substrate.  Yesterday in a workshop at Sandra Spagnuolo's she provided a 6mm vapor barrier plastic.  It worked great.  The skin pealed off it in one whole piece.  It's possible that using a good quality acrylic paint on the first layer made that easier.  I used cheap acrylic paint for the last layers as you don't see them.  You just need them to build up thickness.

I honestly can't help but feel I should be doing more beading on my bead journal projects.   But I look at it and think maybe not.  I had thought that I would do some beading in the white space outside of the snowflake but that is where I intend to do some quilting when I put these all together.   It is a constant struggle for me. 

I bought some tempera paint pucks  a few months ago and I really like using them in my journals.  The colors blend and mix so nicely.  They dry quickly and the colors are very vibrant.  Pretty great  and they are cheap too! I also used a hand carved stamp on this page.  Since I have done some rearranging in my studio I have better access to my stamps.  I really would like to start using them more now that they are easier to get at.

Paper is fun to make.  Definitely messy though.  The two sheets on the left have small bits of fabric included in the paper.  I love this idea.   It definitely increases the potential of what you can do with it. 

This string paper I made using an embroidery hoop as the frame.  I will definitely have to make more of this!  There is a lot of potential to play with this stuff!
