Playing with collage

Image
My heart has been yearning to do more paper collage.  I go through stages of playing with paper or playing with fibre.  I haven't played with paper for quite a while so that explains the yearning.   I created this tree collage with small bits of blue magazine paper.  It became a bit tedious so the paper pieces grew in size.  I really like the collage so I color copied it. That way I could explore more without the tedious part.  I bought a new white metallic marker the other day and I wanted to try it out.  Thus all of the doodles on the tree.  I had a lot of fun doing this!

Work in Progress Wednesday

I have done a lot of picking out on this block.  More than I have ever done ever!  And I probably need to do more.  I don't like going backwards.  grrrr  However, my 'tree', upper right, is just not working for me.  This is the third or fourth incarnation and I still don't like it.  In fact the first way I did it  liked the best but I didn't have enough beads to finish it.  That is a bit frustrating.  I also picked out some lazy daisy stitches that I had done and put in some small, flower beads.  Ultimately I know that I will be glad that I persisted and I have to be confident that it will all come together. Even more wonky

Image
I was encouraged to explore the rice stitch and make it even more wonky than last week.  This fits with who I am much better than trying to work the stitch on a grid.  Thanks to Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/  for the instructions.

Paper collage

I haven't played with paper for a while.  The other day I took a few moments to go through some of the paper things I have created.  It was quite satisifying to look at all the pretty papers.  I found this collage and thought I quite like it.  I am not exactly sure what comes next with it.  I am thinking about making a color copy of it and possibly stitching into that color copy.

Lace gifts

Image
My sweet sister in law, Ellen is so good to me.  Over the years she has found many wonderful doilies.  These two beautiful pieces of lace are her most recent gifts to me.  I am excited to use them.  I really must create something beautiful for her as a thank you.

Work in Progress Wednesday

My landscape is progressing.  I have mostly worked on the lower third of the piece.  I added lace and bead, silk ribbon and bullion stitch.  I only have a vague idea as to what I want to do with with the rest of the piece. I am confident it will all come together though. I am linking with http://pintangle.com/ and http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.ca/

Take a Stitch Tuesday

Image
This is the Rice stitch which I understand is a canvas stitch.  Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/  shows the different variations of this stitch and recommends using waste canvas when stitching onto a crazy quilt/regular fabric.  Okay, so I am always the rebel and just went straight to stitching onto my fabric without using the waste canvas.  I honestly don't care if my stitches are perfect.  I like the irregularity as it has a more organic feel to me.
