Princess Bubbles Creates

 I had so much fun playing with this journal page.  paperdragonflycreativechallenges.  set out the challenge of party time with a bonus for incorporating a dragonfly.   In my mind, party time translated to a celebration.  There are so many things to celebrate in life when we look for them.  I want to celebrate the small things not just the big things.  Life is too short to only celebrate big things.  Besides, small things make me happy.   I am celebrating taking down my solo show today.  It had rave reviews.  I wish it could have been up for a bit longer but oh well.  I will look for other places that can host my 10 foot high installation.  I am very pleased with it and wish for more people to see it!

This week we are discussing:  what are your favorite colors? Do you wear them or decorate with them? Is there a specific color your family would say is your favorite? has it changed in the last few years? Is it influenced by the seasons? Did your color favorites change when you moved, for instance I grew to accept earth tones after moving to Colorado. I grew up in Florida and still like saturated colors. I think the quality of sunlight affects how you perceive color.  I remember moving from Florida to the Washington DC area and feeling like a displaced peacock. More muted colors were worn in the midatlantic. I like the cool colour palette.  Pictured above is the cover of my unicorn journal.  My camera did not capture the colours well as they are more vibrant.  I like to play with all the colours in my art.  Bright and bold definitely tend to be my style.  I really hate brown.  Of course, I use it if I am making a tree but I doubt it will ever be t...

  I have a few purchased journals/sketch books that are full/finished but need a cover that is pretty.  I found an interesting but not successful print to embellish with stitch for one of those journals. While looking for that print I came across this stitched silk.  Sorry for the wrinkles.  I am pondering how I can use it for a mandala journal.  The stitching was done in a circle so that works nicely.   Possibly cutting out the circle and then applying it to a larger piece of fabric would work.  I used some gorgeous silk thread that a friend gifted me for the stitching on this piece.  It might be good to dig out that thread to use for that application.  Hmm, I wonder that thread is.  It might be fun to spend some time looking for it.  It is a very snowy day so looking at my beautiful threads is very appealing!

 Deep inside of me, there is a little girl that loves to play.  That playful little girl lives in a sparkly beautiful world.  I indulge her as often as I am able.  I have a unicorn journal that is full of positive and uplifting thoughts.  It is full of pretty colours but probably needs more glitter!   I have fond memories of my mother colouring with me.  I hope my granddaughter will as well.  I printed off unicorn pictures for us to colour years ago.  Mine found its way into this journal.  This journal spread could be better.  I will resist the urge to improve upon it.   I added faux stitching in a couple of areas so that it would fit with the challenge at  https://doubletroublechallenge.blogspot.com/  

 My daily mandala practice has been a lovely way to start my days.  Sitting quietly and choosing a word/intention for the day is so calming.  I did this mandala last week.  I love that the word is no longer clear.  The ink has bled out and made art.   I enjoyed adding watercolour to it and watching the watercolour do its thing.  The process is the point.

 I found myself wanting a simple project to stitch this week.  I am not ready to start another mandala just now so I went to my box of experiments.  I hit upon this print I created years ago.  It is nothing special but it is about the right size to be a journal cover.  I have added the seed stitch with a green thread that has a bit of sparkle.  I will continue adding that to the upper portion.  This certainly is a slow process and I am really enjoying it.  Even though not a great piece of art, I think it will be an interesting journal cover. Lee Anna  shared these questions with us this week. this week we're talking about if or how we make lists. What kinds of things do you keep lists of? Do you like a list? Might you have one notebook like my sister did, with daily lists in it, and she carried it with her on errands. She flipped the page each day. Do you write notes on scrap paper  and throw it away when done? Do you have a computer spread sheet ? I do of quilts made, size, when finished, etc? Well, who knew there were so many questions about lists?  I am a big list-maker.  It is so satisfying to cross things off my list.  Plus, if I put something on my list there is a 99% likelihood that it is going to get done that day.  I have kept journals/notebooks with my lists in them.  I have also used scrap paper and then thrown out the list when it is done.  I have lists of shows and movies I want to watch.  I have lists of words I want to use in my art.  I have lists of things I ...
