Mandala Monday

I love this mandala.  Even still, in posting it publically I see all the imperfections.  I would rather focus on the beauty of it though.  I would rather focus on the beauty in every moment, every aspect of life.  Not always easy though.  It will be a lifelong practice.   Right now the house is quiet.  I have two sleeping dogs with me.  My doggy daycare business is thriving.  I am honoured that people trust me with their precious pets.  I love that I can make art and care for these lovely guests at the same time.

Slow Stitching Sunday

Working on another wool mandala.  It is a pleasure to have the wool on my lap now that the weather has turned colder.  I started this project back in the summer and didn't enjoy working on it so much then.  I wonder if I can complete this project this winter.  There are fifteen wool mandalas to do.  It doesn't seem likely that I will.  I could be wrong.  I don't want to put any undue pressure on myself.  There is no deadline.  The spring might be cool enough to continue working on it.   My but I do jump into the future.  Slow stitching really helps me to be present.  I am so grateful that stitching is such a balm for my soul.  We all need to have something that does that for us.   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/

LeeAnna  and the gang are discussing the following; 2.  Would you rather go apple picking or carve pumpkins at home? have you done either or both of these? what kind of apples and what was picking them like?  Do you always get pumpkins in the fall, or grow them yourself, do you keep the insides for eating? Remember any pumpkins that caught your eye or a pumpkin festival in your area? I am all about the apples!  It has been a family tradition to go apple picking in the fall.  My niece has joined us in the last few years.  Everyone enjoys it.  I adore freshly picked apples.  I only eat apples in the fall when they are crunchy.  I am so picky!  I have never enjoyed scooping out the insides of pumpkins.  Yuck. I do like pumpkin pie though.   Last week another one of my nieces was visiting for an art day with me.  I like that my nieces want to spend time with me!  We got talking about this Einstein quote  I defin...

Work in Progress Wednesday

Another floofy page has been finished.  I believe I am close to being able to sew all these pages together to form the scroll.  I will then embellish the seams where they join.  Fun!  These little pages are great fun and don't take a ton of time.  I love having a project that is free-form and relaxed.

It has taken some work for me to like this mandala.  I think it is at the point where I will call it finished.  Adding the paper collage centre has made it all come together.  So glad that I tried it!

I added a bit of stitching and roving to this floofy book page.  I love the way the roving looks at the bottom.  Though this little page does look like a hodgepodge.  Best to not judge it too harshly before it is finished though.  I won't give up on it.  I will push past this stage and hopefully turn it into something lovely.  At the very least I will enjoy stitching it and all the other little pages. I am joining  Lee Anna  and all the lovely ladies to discuss the following Would you rather go on a hayride or visit a corn maze? have you ever done either one? do you have stories to tell? I have been on a hayride and it was enjoyable.  Nothing interesting has stuck in my memory about it though.  I have never done a corn maze but would be interested in trying it.  It would be fun to do with the grandkids.  That will be something to do in the future.  Probably the distant future.  There are two new babies joining the family next year.  One in January and one in May.  So exciting!  That will make things more challenging for getting out and about. I like deadlines.  I don't have any right now.  I feel a little adrift without one.  The last year and a half I had one after another.  Deadlines help to keep me on track.  I have passion and discipline which keep me going so deadlines aren't totally necessary. ...
