Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
I have added some stitches to this.  This cheerful landscape is a joy to stitch upon.  Oh, how I want to be one who spreads joy and peace.  I want my art to be uplifting and encouraging.  We have the power to make this world a better place.  Go forth and sparkle my friends!

Glass Totem

Image
I have had a lot of fun creating glass totems.  Here is another one that I created.  I particularly like the trapped butterfly.  I enclosed it because I had painted it with alcohol ink and I wasn't sure it would stand up to the weather.  My granddaughter wanted to be able to touch it as it sparkles.  Shopping at thrift stores to find the right glass piece is fun for me.  I would love to create more of them but don't know where I would put them.

Slow Stiching Sunday

I think this mandala is finished now.  The large beads and sequins I used don't seem quite right for the small size of this hoop.  Not the end of the world.  Not everything mandala is a masterpiece and I am okay with that.  The point of stitching a mandala is meditation and peace.  Maybe I need more of that than the average bear.  I suspect I do.   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/

Whole Cloth Crazy Quilt

I think I have all my 'seams' are embroidered.  I have started adding to the seams to make them more complex.  This is a really interesting exercise for me.  I am debating on whether or not I should add beads to the seams.  There are no beads on the mandala which is the focal point.  I feel like beads on the seams would take away from the mandala.  But then my piece doesn't feel complete without some beading.  Possibly I could add beads to the mandala.  That might be the best solution. I heart macro photography

Walking in my neighbourhood is a complete delight.  There is always so much beauty to see.  Who doesn't love a good sunflower?  Especially with a fuzzy little bee on it! I am linking to http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/ http://jaipurgardening.blogspot.com/ http://floralfridayfoto.blogspot.com/

Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
I have started stitching another mandala.  I wonder if everyone is getting tired of my mandalas.  I can't say that I am tired of them.  I used to lose interest in things quickly and would move on to the next idea but mandalas have really stuck with me.  Am I just being lazy?  Not coming up with something else.  No matter as they make me happy and peaceful.  This one is painted silk.  I wasn't totally happy with the way it turned out and it has languished.  I decided to cut off the part that wasn't working and put the main shape into a hoop.  I have outlined the shape with the stem stitch and silk thread.  Silk thread on silk fabric is absolutely divine! A Different Dog

Image
I have been playing around with a different idea for the dog character in my book.  There is a lot I like about this one.  The face is where I am struggling.  I have made colour copies of it to try out different ways of doing the eyes.  The eyes are everything.  They need to be right. I may need to start again.  I will probably choose different fabrics.  I like how colourful he is but it isn't quite right.  I wonder if I will ever get this book finished.  I make good progress and then lose the mojo.  Then when it returns I intend to keep the momentum going but alas that doesn't happen.
