Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
I have been making slow progress on this mandala.  I love the pearl beads that I added.  I think they work quite well on this.  The yellow thread that I added is bothering me.  I either have to add more yellow somewhere else or take it out.  I am waffling on that decision.   I think either way could work.  I hate picking out something I have done but I think I would like it better without the yellow.  But not using yellow is a well-worn path I have taken in the past.  I can let this mandala sit for a while.  I have other projects that I can stitch. LeeAnna  has asked  Do you send Christmas cards? or holiday cards? Do you send a few or a lot of cards? Are they unique like a photo from this year, or say, hallmark boxed ones (I do the boxed ones but love  a photo card) Do you include newsletter and when will you aim to send them out? Do you get cards? how do you display them? extra credit: do you do craft projects with your old cards like some people? When do you pack/toss them after the season? so, holiday wishes cards... I do not send Christmas cards any more.  I gave it up so many years ago, when the kids were small.  There was already too much to do at Christmas.  I have made things much more simple for Christmas now but I am still not going to start sending them again.  I am amazed that I still get some from friends and family.   My niece used to send a lovely newsletter with her Christmas card.  I always looked forward to getting it.  One year when I received it I set it do...

I have my floofy pages sewn together into a scroll. Love it!  It will be fun to start embellishing the seams to make it all flow together.  I will enjoy going through my stash to see what I can use.  I am thinking about some lace bits that might work well.  They will need to be painted or dyed though.  Hmm, that sounds like a good project for this afternoon!

Mandala Monday

My mandala creations give me a lot of peace and pleasure.  I am absolutely delighted that they seemingly do the same for others.  Yesterday my hubby walked our dog past the Mandala Meditation banners that I got a grant to create.  There was someone there pausing for long periods of time at each banner.  One must assume that she was enjoying them at the very least!  That feels good to me. I want to make art that matters.  Art that makes a difference in someone's life.  I know it makes a difference in my life!

Slow Stitching Sunday

I have been enjoying stitching on this piece.  I feel like the garden is becoming closer to what I want.  I have added some silk yoyos to this piece.  There are a few on the right that are just pinned on right now. I think they work well as flowers. I have pulled apart a silk rod and stitched it down to look like foliage.   This is a hand-dyed silk background and I am trying to use mainly silk threads on this piece.  It is a pleasure to stitch with silk.  It is high time I use these treasures.  If not now, when?  I must dig through my other treasures to find what I can use to add to this garden.   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/

That is my Banksy on the left.  Notice how bedraggled his bow is looking.  He is not used to modelling anything.  Notice Scout on the right.  He is the perfect model and does it often with his people.   Scout comes here weekly and the two of them have a lot of fun together.  I like having this doggy daycare business.  I like spending my day with these beautiful creatures.   LeeAnna  and the gang are discussing funny Thanksgiving stories this week.  Being Canadian I am not celebrating Thanksgiving today.  I do try to be grateful every day.  I can't think of any funny stories from past Thanksgiving celebrations anyway.  My siblings are too spread out for us to be together.  We always have some laughs when we manage to come together though.   Right now, I notice that I am feeling warm and cosy with thoughts of hibernation.  Christmas will be simple this year, not a lot of shopping to do....

I added a bit more to this floofy page.  I am hoping that once it is stitched in the scroll I will like it better.  I think the pages that I don't love will not stand out.  Plus I will add to the seams once they are all joined together.  That could improve things.  Never give up!
