Princess Bubbles Creates

This weekly exercise of depicting water in some way is quite enjoyable.  Eventually, all these six inch squares will end up together.  I haven't completely decided what that form will be but I know the idea will come together.  This week I used fusible web and embossing powder on silk.  I totally love the way it turned out. Supposedly there are no rules when it comes to crazy quilting.  And yet I did find myself reading some rules about CQ not that long ago.  I am a challenger by nature.  Admittedly, there are times when I feel like I should fit into the box but I usually come to my senses.  This crazy quilt block some will find objectionable as it doesn't quite conform to those rules so I have hesitated to post about it.  I have needle felted silk onto the base fabric instead of piecing them together.  I love the texture that happens with needle felting.  I have begun the embellishing process but there is still a fair amount to do.  I am linking to http://www.esthersquiltblog.com/ https://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.com/

This bead journal was quite fun.  It is big, bold and colourful.  I had fun creating different flowers for this piece.  As always, beading is slow stitching and meditative for me. I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/

I used rovings to create this depiction of water.  I wet them with a watered-down white glue mixture and applied them to a texture plate.  Once dry, I removed them from the texture plate and had this lovely textured piece.  I added some beading.  I am linking to https://ninamariesayre.blogspot.com/

This journal page is dedicated to my two-year-old granddaughter, Juniper.  She loves making marks with crayons and I love creating with her.  We had fun collaborating on this crayon garden.  I am going to have to remember to take a photo of our sidewalk chalk collaborations.  They are equally as bright and cheerful. 

I have been creating leaves to go into an altered book.  I have adhered fabric scraps to paper with a watered-down white glue mixture.  Once dry, I cut out the leaf shape.  There is a certain pleasure in using up the tiniest of scraps.  Using up rather than throwing out is really important to me.  When you think about it that is what the original quilters were doing. Sharon B  challenges us with the Linked Double Chain stitch this week.  I feel like I have done this stitch previously but could not find a record of it.  Nevertheless, I feel quite comfortable with the chain stitch and many of its variations.  I decided to not stitch it in a row as per the instructions.  I stitched it to form a flower and used beads so that it would work on my bead journal this month.  I am actually kind of pleased with my creative take on this one!
