Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
This mandala is finished.  After painting the tatted doily not a lot needed to be added.  That alone was pretty.  Still, no beads just didn't seem right.  Buttons, beads and faux gemstones were added.  All of which made me happy.  Whittling down the WIP feels good.  I am always eager to start something new but having too many projects on the go doesn't feel good either.  I must exert a little self-discipline. I usually am pretty decent at that.  However, there are times when it goes right out the window.  There will be no new starts until I finish a couple of more WIP.

Slow Stitching Sunday

Image
We have had a glorious week of warmth and sunshine.  I have taken every opportunity to sit outside and stitch.  Listening to the birds sing while I stitch is idyllic.  Simple pleasures are not lost on me!  This mandala feels slow or maybe even plodding.  I think the problem is that I allowed myself to have too many pieces on the go at one time.  There are seven in the works at the moment.  Usually, I work on  1 or 2, possibly 3 at a time.  That works better for me.  I will not start any new projects until I get some of these mandalas finished.  This one definitely needs some sparkle added to it! May Journal Page

Image
It is mid-May and I am only just getting to my word for the month.  Original was my choice.  The message to be me, true to myself has been repeatedly coming to me over the last few weeks.  I actually thought that I was pretty good at it.  I suppose that one can always improve upon things.  Maybe I need to go from accepting myself to celebrating myself.   So here is my journal page with the word original.  The fabric was printed with a gelli plate.  It sure has a lot of action to it.  Just stitching some letter beads onto it feels a bit like cheating, like maybe I should have done more.  But does it really need more? Work in Progress Wednesday

The weather this week has been glorious.  Taking my stitching outside to enjoy is an absolute delight.  I hope to head out there again shortly.  I am trying to stay concentrated on finishing some mandalas as I have quite a few on the go right now.  This one is inching ever closer to the finishing line and it shouldn't take much more to finish it.

Little Collages

Image
I have been having fun creating little mandala collages.  Layering pieces of cut paper is quite therapeutic.  Glueing it all together can be a bit fiddly but I am liking the result.  I haven't quite decided where these mandalas will go.  Do they get a book all to themselves?  Do they get added to an existing mandala journal?  Does it really matter?  Do they just get stacked up for now?

Slow Stitching Sunday

I had a bit of a rough week.  I managed to pick up a flu bug from my granddaughter.  Thankfully we are both on the mend now.  My energy is still a bit low but I was able to get a bit of stitching added to this piece.  It is a cheery piece to work on.  I add stitches to it with whatever thread is remaining in the needle from another project.  It is a great way to use up the last few inches of thread.  I would love to walk in this countryside!   I am linking to https://kathysquilts.blogspot.com/

Here is more street art from my trip to Graffiti Alley in Toronto.  I am amazed by the talent of these artists.  I don't quite get how they can think so big.  Even though I would love to try it I am not quite sure my brain thinks that way.  Wouldn't it be great if these artists were paid for their work!  Wouldn't it be great if every city had a graffiti alley!  I am so glad that I got to see this alley full of splendour.
